Make plans now to experience a life-changing commitment to missions through a three month (April - July 2010), 2500 mile walk for the world!
What is the Go10Walk? The purpose is to challenge young people to consider their role in reaching the nations with the Gospel in their generation. The year 2010 is the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Free Will Baptist missions program. Laura Belle Barnard was sent out as our first missionary to India in 1935.
To commemorate this event, we are challenging Free Will Baptist young people to a life-changing commitment. They will be asked to commit to walk a 10-mile segment of a 2,500-mile course. Teens will also commit to a 40-day prayer and devotional journey in preparation for the walk.
Go to the Go10 website and pick your day to walk! For more information click here.

Through PMM, I am able to come along side the local church and minister in a variety of ways:

Today
was youth Sunday at Victory Church. Below is a video of some of the
teens performing the skit "Dancing with Jesus." This is a great visual
illustration of the battle that rages with our teenagers everyday.
Please take time to lift a prayer to our Lord on behalf of every

D6 Conference Promo (Long Version) from D6 Conference on Vimeo.
It’s time to take a different look at the way we minister to children, students, and families in the church. Research shows that the kids who grow up to be spiritual champions most often have parent(s) in the home who make a considerable contribution to their spiritual influence. Unfortunately far too many parents rely on the church to be responsible for the spiritual development of their kids. According to D6 (Deuteronomy 6:5-7) this is the job of dad and mom.The D6 Conference will equip leaders with the tools and ideas they need to influence the parents in their church to be responsible for leading their kids spiritually. There is no other ministry of the Church that is more important than ministering to children. At any cost, we must equip dad and mom to connect with their kids spiritually in the home.

Yesterday, was the first of the season Servant Evangelism outreach effort for Victory Church. We initially were going to "wash windshields" however, it was raining. Therefore, we went to Ace hardware to "volunteer and serve" for about an hour and a half. We cleaned bathrooms, swept and mopped floors, stocked shelves, placed sale price tags on items, put together a gas grill, cleaned the storage room, ran scanners and did some inventory, unloaded pallets of products... all in the name of "showing God's love in a practical way!"
Mark 10:45 says that Jesus came to serve, not be served (paraphrase). That is the spirit we took into the community, a spirit of simply serving. Our people love it!
We will continue to do this on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM, so make plans to come out and join us! It really is more of a blessing to give than to receive! Below are a few pictures from last evening.

Church Financial Services Secialist Dr. Keith T. Hamilton, CFP, CRPC of the Georgia Baptist Convention wrote a great article with some very practical steps to do if you have been laid off from your job.
You may find this helpful in your situation, but if not you, then there are many around us and in our churches who have been laid off. Why not forward this post to them? They will be glad you did!
Dr. Hamilton says: Being laid off from a job is terrible, but it is not the end of your world.
Unemployment must be kept in balance with the rest of your life. God has given us families and friends to help us through these difficult and hard days. No matter how difficult life becomes, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to help us through the hard times. In fact, if you think about it, Jesus was unemployed, too. During Jesus’ last three years on this earth, He did not have a paying job either. He had to depend on the generosity of others. Of course, Jesus knew his heavenly Father would take care of him. Likewise, our same heavenly Father will take care of you during these coming days if you will allow him. You only have to call upon Him and He will answer you. As part of our church’s ministry, we want to help you through the coming days by offering some practical financial helps for you to follow. These are just some tips that have made a difference in other lives facing the same thing you are facing.

As pastors, teachers, and leaders we must be continually developing our skills in the area of communication. After all, for us pastors, it's what we do every week!
Therefore, I would like to share with you a great article I just read by Dr. James O. Davis titled "21 Irrefutable Laws of Communication." Although I do not know a great deal about this man, I do think he is right on target when it comes to connecting and communicating from the pulpit. (I have posted the entire article for you to review...enjoy!)

We have been working very hard over the last 6 weeks or so designing and developing our new website for Victory Church.
Now when I say "we," I am not talking about professional web designers; I'm talking about our Worship Leader, Wayne Kunde and me! We both have the gift of "trial and error!" lol :)
Fell free to share with me some positive criticism and let me know your thoughts concerning our new site. Remember, we are no where near "completion" of this site, but it is at least up and running.
Click the "comments" link below and share your thoughts about our new site. Click here to be directed to the new Victory Church website.

Pictured above is the Victory Church Leadership Team. This weekend after our Sunday morning worship service went to Tanner Trails Community Church in North Aurora, IL to view their new facility. Tanner Trails has built a beautiful new facility. We are in the process of planning, dreaming, and envisioning what type of facility we would like to build.
Pastor David Womack and his wife Teresa (pictured on right) were terrific host. Thanks guys for taking time out of your schedule to meet with us!
Here are our wives taking a much needed break!
Tanner Trails has a wildlife reservation directly beside their property with walking trails. My wife Debbie (on left), by daughter Kristen (middle),and Beverly (on right) decided to all go for a walk with Haley (Beverly's baby daughter). What a beautiful day for walking!

What a concept, "Don't let the BOZOS grind you down!" Wow! Thanks Dave and Guy, because that's exactly what I've been doing; and you want to know the sad thing? I did not even recognize the bozos in my life!
You may be thinking, "What in the world are you talking about?" I just read Dave Ferguson's blog (which I read weekly) and he just posted an article about Guy Kawasaki speaking on "The Art of Innovation." (Check out Guy's blog.) As I was reading the 11 things to remember about the art of innovation, the Lord really spoke to my heart. Listen to what he says:
#11 - Don't let the bozos grind you down. There will always be the bozo's who will say that it can't be done or will never work. Don't let the bozo's grind you down!
When I read that, the Lord spoke to my heart, no He shouted, 'THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE DOING SON! YOU'RE LETTING BOZOS GRIND YOU DOWN!"
Wow! Thanks God! Thanks Dave! Thanks Guy! That's what I needed. I have just identified the bozos!
What about you? Are you letting "bozos" grind you down?

It finally arrived! My new MacBook Pro! I must be honest, I have a little right-brain, left-brain thing going on, but I'm sure when I become more familiar with the Mac I will love it. Now I understand the saying, "When you go to a Mac you will never desire another PC." That's me!
One more thing, sorry I haven't posted very much on my blog this summer, it has been extremely CRAZY for the Cannon family, but things are beginning to slow down a bit. Therefore, I am anxious about blogging again! Stay tuned.
