It goes without saying the greatest verse in the Bible is John 3:16.
Often you will see this verse referenced on signs at sporting events and immediately everyone takes notice. Why? Because this verse gives us insight to the very heart of God. It reveals His love for each of us - His love for the entire world!
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV)
Just think about the love God displayed through His Son while hanging on the cross. Max Lucado has a great thought on this; listen as he shares from the book In the Eye of the Storm:
He looked around the hill and foresaw a scene. Three figures hung on three crosses. Arms spread wide. Heads fallen forward. They moaned with the wind.
Men clad in soldier's garb sat on the ground near the trio...
Women clad in sorrow huddled at the foot of the hill,...faces tear-streaked.
All heaven stood to fight. All nature rose to rescue. All eternity poised to protect. But the Creator gave no command.
"It must be done," He said, and withdrew.
The angel spoke again. "It would be less painful..." The Creator interrupted softly, "But it wouldn't be love."
Have you experienced God's love? Have you accepted His gift of love? Why not ask Christ into your life this Easter season. He loves you!
Join us Easter Sunday morning for our 10:30 worship service. I will be giving everyone who attends Max Lucado's new book 3:16 The Numbers of Hope. Be sure to invite your co-workers, friends, and family to join you this Sunday at Victory Church.
